Introductory Note: This is not a review of the episodes upon which this movie is based, nor is it a comparison with earlier interpretations of the source material. This is strictly a commentary on the the compilation.
Now, on to the review proper.
Flash Gordon the Movie consists of 3 episodes of the Flash Gordon TV series from the mid-1950's edited together into a single file. The source episodes are, in order in which they appear in this video:
36 - Deadline at Noon
39 - The Subworld Revenge
1 - The Planet of Death.
Changes to the original videos include an introductory title card Davidgc, modification to the Flash Gordon title card to include 'the Movie,' removal of 'The End' title card from 'Deadline at Noon' and 'The Subworld Revenge,' the removal of the introduction from 'The Subworld Revenge,' and 'The Planet of Death,' and 'The Subworld Revenge,' as well as the addition of episode titles (in color) to 'The Subworld Revenge,' and 'The Planet of Death.' Also, there was a final title card added listing this as a Davidgcs Productions 2012.
Considering that these three episodes do not make a contiguous story line, I am left to wonder why these three episodes were chosen for this movie. Putting the series finale in the middle of this triptych and the first episode at the end could not simply be arbitrary. However, it does nothing to improve the overall narrative.
The quality of the editing was acceptable; there was nothing here that makes is stand out as being exceptional. The use of color, even muted color for the inter-episode titles called more attention to itself than was necessary. The addition of the title cards was functional and acceptable as well.
Overall, based on the editing and work put in by Davidgc, this is an average production.
I look forward to seeing more of his work.

This is the last episode 39 and the last episode of the show, The Space Adventures of Flash Gordon. The Show is a science fiction series that follows main characters Flash Gordon and his companions Dr. Zarkov and Dale Arden as they fight to defend the galaxy. The three person team is a member of the GBI, a confederation of planets that fight to protect the galaxy. The Show was based off of a comic strip written by Alex Raymond from the 1930’s. In this episode, Flash and his teammates return to the center of the Earth to stop the plot of an underground society lead by Zaldu. This society sought to escape from underground in order to take over and rule the planet’s surface. Have previously failed at accomplishing this, Zaldu attempts to magnetize the iron in the Earth’s crust to increase the pressure underground. In doing so, Zaldu hoped to stop Flash and his team from thwarting his attempt to take over the surface. Through the use of an atomic demagnetizer that Dr. Zarkov had created, Flash and his team are able to neutralize the effects of the magnetized iron and stop Zaldu from completing his task.
The show began filming in 1953 and the first episode aired October 1, 1954. The final Episode of The Space Adventures of Flash Gordon aired July 15, 1955. While the show received fifteen thousand dollars an episode, the production values are often criticized as cheap. This may have to do with the fact that each thirty minute episode was filmed over a short period of three days. The show was produced by Wenzel Ludecke through the Inter-Continental Film Productions studio and was very popular in America at the time. The Show was syndicated and continued to air reruns through the 1960’s. (TRM/110)
